EarthLink Conference Manager
Mac OS X Conference Manager Port
News
May 6, 2003:
A Mac OS X version of
Conference Manager
is Now Available!
At this point all the main features are functional, but it is
not a polished
application with automatic installer and such.
Notes
- The current development version has a number of specific requirements
and limitations. In its current form Mac OS X Conference Manager is
best suited for the Unix-savvy user. It is not a traditional Mac OS
X user-friendly application, particularly in terms of installation.
- It runs on
Mac OS X 10.2.x
- It requires additional software to run, including
Apple X11,
Tcl/Tk Aqua
and OpenMash
(Mac OS X binaries available:
here).
- Video capture is only known to work with FireWire webcams,
specifically those that use the
IOXperts driver
version 1.0.5
(such as the
iBOT FireWire Web Cam).
For a list of currentely supported video cameras with that driver
see this page.
(However, there is a trick described in the documentation that allows
use of many DV video cameras through Quicktime streaming).
The main Conference manager Application is Aqua (under Tcl/Tk)
but the video media handler (vic) is an X11 app.
To learn more about the Conference Manager application and its
capabilities, see the
Overview.
If you are interested in the Mac OS X port of Conference Manager
as a general user, or if you are a technically savvy user and wish to
help test the software, you may download the
Binaries
(
Confmgr-MacOSX-v0.4.48.tar.gz)
Extract the contents of the tarball into a directory and follow the
instructions in the README file to install.
