Available Information:
AVL In-vehicle Protocol
The AVL in-vehicle device implements an
open protocol, making the AVL core services available to external
in-vehicle applications.
Such services include GPS location data, input/output
triggers, and wireless Internet messaging.
The AVL services available to in-vehicle applications are:
- Location. Obtain position data (from GPS signal), set the
automatic position transmission interval, or force a position
report (transmit position to wireless network).
- Messaging. Messages may be directed to one of 26
nodes or sub-addresses within the AVL. A given application may
select the node or nodes for which it will respond. Applications
query the AVL for incoming messages and can send messages to any
Internet email address or custom-assigned AVL alias to be processed by
the AVL middleware.
- Safety and Security. Signal user initiated panic condition,
unlock car doors, or signal alarm conditions.
- Vehicle Data/Sensors.
Request status of AVL digital and analog I/O signals, including
Ignition, and on-board voltage and temperature sensors, in addition
to the external I/O signals.
- Diagnostics and Miscellaneous.
Reset alarms,
read or reset statistical counters, obtain wireless network status,
and obtain diagnostic information.
