There are approximately 60 million trucks and 140 million cars in the United States. Yet automotive computing platforms for application development available today are almost non-existent. The hardware is expensive and often complex, undocumented, and proprietary. There are tremendous barriers to entry for independent application developers. For the most part, independent developers are totally excluded from the in-vehicle market due to today's closed systems model and end-to-end proprietary solutions strategy.
